Punjab

About Punjab:
The state has derived its name from the five rivers that runs through it. Geographically falling in two regions the Shivaliks and the plains, each area of Punjab is well connected by the other. Of the 4.2 million hectares of fertile land, Punjab is a  prosperous state, which is rich in agriculture, producing 22% of the country's wheat, 9% of rice and 6% of cotton. Rapidly booming in economy, the state is also rich in culture and tradition, as people of Punjab are warm and welcoming and there is no comparison to the hospitality of Punjab. Moreover, people of Punjab are so fond of dance and music that it lures not only those tourists who are on leisure trip but also make them follow the tradition in their own native land. From birth to death, engagement, marriage, love, separation or just think of any theme and Punjab would have a song on it. That is the spirit of life here, people of Punjab loves to enjoy and rejoice on any occasion. The state stands united be it happy or testing times.
 
Places to visit in Punjab:


Amritsar:
The holy city of Sikhs, Amritsar is thronged by the visitors from across the globe. The presence of the holy shrine- The Golden Temple, Jaliyan-wala-bagh, where scores of innocent Indian people were massacred by the British during struggle for independence, makes this city even more popular. It's historic relevance adds on to the glory of the city.
 
Chandigarh:
One of the most well planned cities of India, Chandigarh has its own attraction of being clean and beautiful city. It offers a perfect blend of modernization with the well preserved natural sites, which can be clearly seen where Chandigarh roads dissect. Plants and trees plays an important role in every construction. The man made Sukhna Lake, Leisure Valley running through the entire length of the city, Bougainvillea Garden devoted to hundreds of bougainvillea varieties are few of the important places to visit in Chandigarh. For short excursion one can visit Bhakra-Nangal dam, the highest dam of its kind on the world, Amritsar-Nangal Dam and Anadpur Sahib a holy shrine highly revered by Sikhs.
