Jehan Numa Palace was built in the year 1890, during the rule of Nawab Sultan Jehan Begum by her second son General Obaidullah Khan, Commander-in-Chief of the erstwhile Bhopal State force. After the death of the General, the Palace went through many occupational adjustments, finally the grandsons of General Obaidullah Khan came up with a dream to convert this Palace into a world class Hotel. Their dream became a reality in the month of September 1983, when it was officially opened. Today 'Jehan Numa Palace is one of the six "Grand Heritage" hotels in India. Jehan Numa Palace is also the only "Grand Heritage" property in the West and Central zone. .

Jehan Numa Palace, nestled on the slopes of Shamla Hills, is a hotel with difference - "Too intimate to be called A Palace and too friendly to be called a Hotel", to quote a visiting journalist "It is a one of the best surprises Bhopal springs on you. " Set in five acres of lush green grass, trees and splashes of colourful bougainvillea it is a delightful and charming get away.

The Palace, almost as old as the century is a superb example of a medley of British Colonial, Italian Renaissance and Classical Greek Architecture.

Accommodation and Room Features

60 centrally Air Conditioned rooms and Suites are  luxurious and beautiful, yet equipped with the most modern of conveniences for comfort and relaxation. CTV, Satellite channels, direct dial telephone facilities, Internet connectivity, message receiving services, attached bath with hot & cold water are available with all rooms. All Suites are having minibar.

The accommodations face lush green courtyards with African Tulips, exotic flower beds, plants and quaint fountains, with individual sit outs. It is a pleasure to sit out, enjoy the lawns and sip your morning Tea or Coffee. The 'Heritage Suites' are as original as they were when the Palace was first built.

There is an efficient 24 hour room service and housekeeping staff who are trained to look after your every need and comfort.

Banqueting and Conferencing

Jehan Numa Palace Hotel offers a variety of modern conferencing facilities with a sprinkle of old the Darbari Atmosphere, which adds to a Princely state of mind. The hotel serves you with four uniquely tailored Banquet Halls and lush green lawns with embroided interior and a pleasing atmosphere to fit to the requirements of an ideal conferencing. Each Hall depicts the architectural serenity of the British period and holds it's individual identity of being a Palace converted into a Hotel. Just specify the cause and the minds are automatically read. May that be a Meeting, Seminar, Conference, Workshop, Training Programs, Product Launch, Exhibition, or even a simple social gathering, there is a place ideally suitable. 

Durbar Hall : A 4000 Sq. Ft. hall without pillars, big enough to accommodate over 350 persons in Theatre style. The Hall is fitted with the latest electronic backup and a beautiful Afghani carpet, followed by a semi paved Lawn with a fountain in its exteriors, glorifying its beauty.

Convention Hall : Hall specially designed for a formal assembly or conference. This hall has an area of 1800 sq. ft. It can accommodate upto 120 persons. The art of convening is done at the convention Hall.     

Senate Hall : Takes its place on the first floor overlooking the front facade and the poolside of the Hotel. Specially designed to cater upto 35 persons with a carpet area of 500 Sq. Ft. If you are thinking about a small meeting conference or a get-together this hall is the right place to be in.

Board Room : The name says it all. This hall is designed for board meetings. It is a very well done confidential room with a beautiful mahogany oval shaped table which can accommodate Ten to Twelve top captains of the industry.

Central Courtyard : This is the inner courtyard of the Palace with lush green beautiful lawn and brilliant flowerbeds and quaint fountain playing softly in the center.  A huge mango tree almost half a century old is making the atmosphere more pleasant. This lawn can accommodate upto 100 people for dinner parties.  

Queen's Lawn : This is the poolside lawn with beautiful greenery and brilliant flowerbeds. The atmosphere is very pleasant with greenery of a verity of trees. This is the biggest lawn and can accommodate upto 700 people for dinner parties.

New Lawn : This is another inner courtyard with a beautiful lush green lawn and a variety of flower plants. This can accommodate upto 200 people for dinner parties.

Dining and Entertainment

Shahanama : A multi-cuisine restaurant is named after Persian writer Firdausi's famous book SHAHANAMA. The restaurant on the first floor bears large paintings from the book on its walls. There is an excellent and well appreciated Buffet Spread during lunch. For dinner we offer you not only delicious Indian, continental and Chinese but authentic Bhopali fare as well to be relished in cool cheerful surroundings with live gazals on weekend's.

September  : The 24-hour coffee shop, located next to the Lobby, serves a buffet breakfast and specially created snacks and mini- meals both Continental and Indian to suit everyone's taste and palate, round the clock.

Tattenham Corner : Named after the final bend at Epsom racecourse. Tattenham Corner is the Pub & Weekend club. Here a wide variety of Imported and Indian spirits, Wine and Beer are provided to your service. On weekends the dance floor comes alive, with a DJ. in attendance.

Shergar : The bar named after Aga Khan's famous horse is a small cozy place situated near the Lobby. Wood panelled with antique-guns and an Old World charm, it is an ideal place to let your spirits soar amongst the feeling of being transported back in time.

Under The Mango Tree (Garden Bar-Be-Que) :The garden Bar-Be-Que is in the inner courtyard of the Palace, with its lush green lawns and brilliant flowerbeds and quaint fountain playing softly in the center, offering sizzling mouthwatering tandoori delicacies. The  atmosphere is distinctly  Jehan Numa

Break Basket : The Bread Basket near the entrance of the lobby is a place for delicious and favorite goodies varieties of Bread, Cakes, Pastries, Puffs, Patties, Cookies and Desserts prepared by trained chefs, are a specialty of Jehan Numa's Bread Basket. Also a great 'Pick-Me-Up' dessert choices, in individual and party packs.

Cyberr Cafe : The Cyber Cafe is a comfortable and cozy place situated near the lobby. Advanced multimedia computers with digital telecommunication line are provided for fast, comfortable and enjoyable surfing on the World Wide Web. Here surfing can be enjoyed with a coffee or tea and delicious snacks.
