Beaches : The beaches of kelantan are among the finest in Malaysia.

Pantai Cahaya Bulan (Beach of Moonlight) kelantan moonlightbeach:Pantai Cahaya Bulan is located on the northeast stretch of the Kelantan coastline, just 9.6 km from Kota Bharu. The beach is shaded by tall casuarina trees which provides an ideal place for picnics and relaxation. Comfortable chalets are available at the beach. On your way to PCB, stop by at the various cottage industries along the road here. You can see batik printing, songket weaving, kite-making and copper-tooling.

  • Accessible by taking SKMK Bus No. 10 which departs from the Central Market every 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Location: 10km north of Kota Bharu.

kelantan pantaisabak beachPantai Sabak : As well as being a rendezvous for fishing boats, Sabak Beach boasts fine golden sands fringed by coconut palms. It is a perfect spot to picnic and relax while observing the return of the fishing boats. Gentle waves lap the shore while the water is warm and clear.

Pantai Seri Tujuh (Beach of seven Lagoons) :The longest lagoon in Malaysia shelters this pristine beach. Home to the Annual International Kite Festival, the beach has a variety of food and drink stalls as well as public amenities.

  • Location: This beach lies on the border of Thailand and Kelantan at Kampung Tujuh in Turnpat, about 7 km from Kota Bharu.

Pantai Irama (Beach of Melody) :kelantan melodybeach Approximately 30km south of the capital in the Bachok district, Pantai Irama offers choice picnic spots and eating stalls. It is reputed to be one of the most beautiful beaches along the East Coast.

  • To reach here, take bus No. 2A/2B to Bachok.
  • Location: Situated in the district of Bachok about 25 km  south of Kota Bharu.

Pantai Bisikan Bayu (Beach of the Whispering Breeze) :kelantan whisperingbreeze Also known as Pantai Dalam Rhu. Tall casuarinas offer restful shade where families can enjoy a picnic. Surfing can be good at certain times of the year, and wind surfers will find excellent sport.

  • From the main terminal, take-Bus No. 3 to Pasir Puteh,  then take Bus No. 96 to Kuala Besut.
  • Location:About 50Km from Kota Bharu, near Semerak, in the Pasir Puteh district


Water Falls : Waterfalls in Kelantan are major attractions for picnics and swimming.

Jeram Lenang :
A  favourite among the locals, this waterfall is only 12 metres high but nonetheless, draws the crowds.

  • Bus No. 3 will take you to Pasir Puteh, from where you can board a taxi to Jeram Lenang.
  • Location: Off the Pasir Putih-Machang Road
Jeram Pasu :
Jeram Pasu is by kelantan jerampasufar the most popular. A dip in the crystal clear icy water does wonders to the spirit.
  • Board Bus No. 3 from the main terminal to Padang Pak Amat. Then take a taxi from there to the waterfalls, about 8 km away.
  • Location: Situated off the Kota Bharu - Pasir Puteh road at Kampung Pak Amat.
Lata Beringin :
At 120m, it is also one of the highest waterfalls in the country.The magnificent view and lush surroundings make this a popular camping spot. Lata Beringin is near the Sungai Pas Kesedar Land Scheme.
  • It is accessible via a dirt track leading off from the Kuala Krai-Gua Musang highway.
  • Location:  Off Kuala Krai-Gua Musang Highway .

Gunung Stong : Take off to Gunung Stong (1,422 metres) Kelantan's highest mountain. Located here is a cave, Gua Ikan (Fish Cave). Its name is derived from a solitary rock that looks like a fish. To cave explorers on an expedition, part of the lure is trying to find a pot of gold believed to have been hidden during the Japanese Occupation.

River Cruise & Jungle Trekking :kelantan junglesafari The ecotourist will find much to delight him were he to take an upriver cruise of Sungai Kelantan into the virgin rainforests of Kelantan. The secrets of the jungle will unfold itself if he looks and listens; and the little villages along the bank is  an added bonus.

Take Bus No. 5 which leaves the main terminal at 7.45 every morning for  Kuala Krai. At Kuala Krai, take the boat which leaves at 10.00 am for Dabong.  The 2-hour boat ride affords ample time to take in the grandeur of the rainforests.

Upon reaching Dabong, you have about three hours to while away before catching the boat back to Kuala Krai at 3.15 pm. Take a stroll around the village and observe the villagers at their daily chores.

Alternatively, you can venture up to Jelawang to stay the night in one of the chalets (RM25.00 including meals). A one and a half-hour jungle trek brings you to the Jelawang Waterfall, spectacular and every bit worth the effort.
If you decide to return to Kuala Krai on the same day, you can catch a taxi from Kuala Krai to Kota Bharu. Please note that there are no boats available on Fridays .

The southbound train from Dabong brings you to Gua Musang in two and a half hours. Here is where the majestic Lata Beringin is located. Gua Musang also lies within the National Park amidst the splendour of the world's oldest rainforests. Explore the many limestone caves, cascading waterfalls or enjoy a river boat safari. There are similar trips organised by the Tourist Information Centre in Kota Bharu. You are advised to book in advance.
