The city founded in the year 1156, when Rawal Jaisal established his kingdom in the middle of massive and arid Thar Desert. Very few people know that the city was known as Sonar Garh. "Sonar" means Golden Colour.Based on the history Cross Country has named its Hotel in Jaisalmer as "HOTEL SONAR GARH FORT"
