Pushkar, one of the jewels of the great desert of Rajasthan, is the famous holy town. It is here amongst the temples and ghats surrounding the holy lake, that 'Brahma', the creator dropped a lotus flower and performed a vedic 'YAGNA' during the month of Kartika which gives birth to the Pushkar Festival. The temple here is the only temple in India dedicated to Lord Brahma. Pushkar has changed little over long centuries and has retained its medieval mysterious past. During the great Pushkar fair, held after the festival of Diwali, Pushkar become vibrant with folk dances, magic shows, horse and camel races and many more traditional entertaining competitions. Over 100,000 camels, bullocks and horses are traded during the days of the festival.
