How to get there
By Road: Manali is very well connected by road and is 570 Kms from Delhi and 310 Kms. from Chandigarh on the N.H.21, of which about 220 kms. is actual mountain drive, the rest being the plains. The entire stretch of road from Chandigarh to Kullu is extremely good and very well maintained by the B.R.O. A 4 lane metalled road, very safe for day as well as night journeys, is an excellent drive amidst scenic and picturesque surroundings all along the river, right upto Manali.
For a checklist just remember the names of the following towns on the way, to avoid going wrong anywhere. Delhi – Chandigarh – Mohali – Roopnagar – Kiratpur Sahib – Swarghat – Bilaspur – Sundernagar – Mandi – Pandoh Dam – Kullu – Manali.
Bus Service: Regular, frequent and direct overnight bus services are available for Manali from all over northern India.
By Rail: Manali being a hill station located deep inside the Himalayan Ranges is not directly connected by rail.
By Air: Hi-fliers and those who avoid long road journeys have a convenient option of taking direct or Hop- over flights from Delhi and Shimla. Air Deccan and Jagson Airlines have regular flights on this sector viz. DELHI – KULLU or SHIMLA – CHANDIGARH – KULLU
