 Popularly known as the queen of hills, this charming hill station, is situated at an altitude of 2,500 mts. above sea-level. It overlooks the sprawling Doon valley and the city of Dehradun, the gateway to Mussoorie and infact to the entire Garhwal.
In 1827, Capt. Young of the British army chanced upon this extraordinarily beautiful wooded ridge and created the center around which the hill station grew.

Just 34 km from Dehradun, Mussoorie offers views of both the Himalayan ranges to the north and the Shivaliks and plains to the south. This erstwhile aristocratic resort is now a popular hill station and promises a variety of entertainment throughout the year. Landour in Mussoorie retains much of the old-world charm of the place.

Kanatal
Kanatal, a quaint little hamlet in Uttaranchal state, located just 300 kilometers, or 6-7 hours journey by road from Delhi is perched at an altitude of over 8,500 feet.
Bhadraj Temple
This temple dedicated to Lord Balbhadra, brother of Shri Krishna, offers a commanding view of the Doon Valley and Chakrata ranges.
Mussoorie - Yamuna Bridge
A great attraction for fishing. But you need a permit for that from District Forest Offices. Total distance is around 30 km.
Mussoorie - Lakha Mandal
Total distance, 80 km, located on the Mussorie Yamunotri Road.
Camel's back road
Horse-riding and walking. Sunset view of the Himalayas. A superb rock formation, with a life-like resemblance to a sitting camel, can be seen from this spot.
Children's Lodge
A powerful telescope is installed here, and the view of the snow from this spot is exhilarating.
Gun Hill
Enjoy a Ropeway ride to the second highest peak of Mussoorie. It can also be negotiated by bridle path which forks-off from Mall Road near Kutchery. A climb takes about twenty minutes. The Ropeway distance is 400 mtr. The sheer thrill of the ride is memorable.
Gun Hill offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges namely Bunderpunch, Srikantha, Pithwara and Gangotri Group, offering bird's-eye view of Mussoorie town and Doon Valley. During pre-independence days a gun mounted on this top used to be fired heralding mid-day to enable people to adjust their watches and hence this name.
Kempty Fall
15 km. from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri Road having an altitude of 4500 ft. It has the distinction of being the biggest and prettiest waterfall located in a beautiful valley and is surrounded by high mountains. Bath at the foot of the falls is refreshing and enjoyable for children and adults alike.
Municipal Garden
A picnic spot having a beautiful garden and an artificial mini lake with boating facilities. It is located at a distance of 4 km. by cycle rickshaw, pony or by car and only 2 km. on foot via Waverly Convent Road.
Children's Lodge
Highest peak of Mussoorie near Lal Tibba. It is about 5 km. from the Tourist Office and one can go on horse back or on foot. Snow view from this spot is exhilarating.

Airways

Roadways
To search Mussoorie, first you have to come to Dehradun, provided you are not coming from the hilly regions of Garhwal etc. Mussoorie is about 300 km from Delhi. Therefore, the first step is to cover Delhi-Dehradun distance. (For details, see the accessibilty sections under Dehradun).
Bus : State Government Roadways run frequent buses from Dehradun's Mussoorie Bus Stand to the Library and Picture Palace points in Mussoorie. One has the option of taking a bus from Delhi itself from its Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT)

Best Time To Visit
The peak tourist season is in summer from May till July. But the town tends to get overcrowded at this time and mid-season, around October- November, are great for a visit. Bring woolens, rain protection and walking shoes.
Shopping
The main shopping centers in the city are Gandhi Chowk, the Mall, Kulri Bazaar and Landour Bazaar.
Walking sticks, hand knitted cardigans and sweaters along with antique and other memorabilia - are the good buys. Check out the following.

- Clarks Restaurant : Famed for its cappuccino.
- Green Restaurant : Favoured with non-vegetarions. At nominal price, you can have a cheese, Korma here.
- Kwality Restaurant : Located on the Mall, in the heart of Kulri Bazar. Reasonably priced vegetarian dishes

- Madras Cafe : Famed for its varieties of dosas idlis and vadas.
