Bhadraj Temple

This temple dedicated to Lord Balbhadra, brother of Shri Krishna, offers a commanding view of the Doon Valley and Chakrata ranges.

Mussoorie - Yamuna Bridge

A great attraction for fishing. But you need a permit for that from District Forest Offices. Total distance is around 30 km.

Camel's back road
Horse-riding and walking. Sunset view of the Himalayas. A superb rock formation, with a life-like resemblance to a sitting camel, can be seen from this spot.

Children's Lodge
A powerful telescope is installed here, and the view of the snow from this spot is exhilarating.

Gun Hill
Enjoy a Ropeway ride to the second highest peak of Mussoorie. It can also be negotiated by bridle path which forks-off from Mall Road near Kutchery. A climb takes about twenty minutes. The Ropeway distance is 400 mtr. The sheer thrill of the ride is memorable.

Gun Hill offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges namely Bunderpunch, Srikantha, Pithwara and Gangotri Group, offering bird's-eye view of Mussoorie town and Doon Valley. During pre-independence days a gun mounted on this top used to be fired heralding mid-day to enable people to adjust their watches and hence this name.

Kempty Fall

15 km. from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri Road having an altitude of 4500 ft. It has the distinction of being the biggest and prettiest waterfall located in a beautiful valley and is surrounded by high mountains. Bath at the foot of the falls is refreshing and enjoyable for children and adults alike.

Municipal Garden

A picnic spot having a beautiful garden and an artificial mini lake with boating facilities. It is located at a distance of 4 km. by cycle rickshaw, pony or by car and only 2 km. on foot via Waverly Convent Road.

Children's Lodge

Highest peak of Mussoorie near Lal Tibba. It is about 5 km. from the Tourist Office and one can go on horse back or on foot. Snow view from this spot is exhilarating.

Airways

The Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest air strip, about 60 km from Mussoorie. For more see the accessibility section under Dehradun.

Railways

The nearest railhead is Dehradun, about 35 km away. Bookings can be made from Mussorie itself at computerized reservation system at Kulri Bazaar and Railway Out Agency. For details on rail connectivity, please see our accessibilty section under "Dehradun"

Roadways

To search Mussoorie, first you have to come to Dehradun, provided you are not coming from the hilly regions of Garhwal etc. Mussoorie is about 300 km from Delhi. Therefore, the first step is to cover Delhi-Dehradun distance. (For details, see the accessibilty sections under Dehradun).

Bus : State Government Roadways run frequent buses from Dehradun's Mussoorie Bus Stand to the Library and Picture Palace points in Mussoorie. One has the option of taking a bus from Delhi itself from its Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT)

Best Time To Visit

The peak tourist season is in summer from May till July. But the town tends to get overcrowded at this time and mid-season, around October- November, are great for a visit. Bring woolens, rain protection and walking shoes.

Shopping

The main shopping centers in the city are Gandhi Chowk, the Mall, Kulri Bazaar and Landour Bazaar.

Walking sticks, hand knitted cardigans and sweaters along with antique and other memorabilia - are the good buys. Check out the following.

Most of the hotels have their own restaurants. However, there are a number of restaurants, favourite with locals as well as with tourists.

Alki Restaurant : Noted for south Indian and Chinese dishes. Go for a Kulfi Faluda.

Clarks Restaurant : Famed for its cappuccino.

Green Restaurant : Favoured with non-vegetarions. At nominal price, you can have a cheese, Korma here.

Kwality Restaurant : Located on the Mall, in the heart of Kulri Bazar. Reasonably priced vegetarian dishes

Howard's Revolving Restaurant : Located on the Mall, near Cable Car.

Madras Cafe : Famed for its varieties of dosas idlis and vadas.

President Restaurant : Located on the Mall. Noted for its multicuisine services with Mughalai specialty.

Rice Boul Restaurant : Famed for its reasonably priced Tibetan and Chinese cuisine.
