Bageshwar
 

Situated at the confluence of rivers Saryu, Gomti and latent Bhagirathi, lies the holy township of Bageshwar; also revered as the pious land associated with Lord Sadashiva, the redeemer of all sins. This quaint town abounds in religious legends, festive happenings and mind blowing surroundings. Famous primarily as a prominent Shaivaite delight, Bageshwar has its share of patriotic expressions and picturesque interludes. Bageshwar is 90 Kms from Almora. 

Baghwath Temple, plays host to the Biggest Uttaryani Mela. Take a look around and you will find Bhileshwar mountains over looking in the East. Neeleshwar mountains meditating in the West. Suraj Kund basking in legends in the North and Agni Kund radiating in the South.

For trekking enthusiasts too, Bageshwar is an important destination. Because one can reach Pindari, Kaphni and Sundardhunga glaciers only through Bageshwar. So if your are planning a complete yet 'different break' come to Bageshwar.

History
During the reign of the Chands, the Shiva temple was constructed at Bageshwar. Legend has it that when repeated attempts to install a Shiva Linga proved futile, it was Shri Manorath Pandey of Palayn village who succeeded in installing the idol after performing penances on the Shivratri. From then onwards, a massive fair is held on Shivratri each year to commemorate the event.

Baijnath
Lying in the Katyuri valley, 19 Kms away from Kausani and 26 kms from Bageshwer, is the small but ancient town of Baijnath. It was once upon a time the capital of the Katyuri dynasty of kings and the place was then called

baijnath

Kartikyapura. In Kumaun socio cultural region, Baijnath  is one among remote antiquity and of historical importance. The remnants of those glorious days lies at the bank of the Gomti river in the form of a group of temples. The temple is famous for it's ancient and magnificent stone idol of the Hindu goddess Parvati. Around 8 KMs from Baijnath on the Gwaldam road is lies the famous Kotkimai temple. One can also visit Pandusthal which lies nearby.

Vijaypur
Situated 30 kms from Bageshwar on Bageshwar Chaukori motor road. One can have a panaromic view of the snow capped Himalayan range from here. Because of it's high altitude the view is breath taking.

Kanda
This picturesque place is treat for nature lovers and is 25 km s from Bageshwar on Bageshwar chaukori motor road. Ancient Bhadrakali temple is near Kanda.
