Diu

The island of Diu, lies in the Gulf of Combay near Veravd port off the Saurashtra Coast of Gujarat . It is separated from the southern extremity of the Saurashtra Peninsula by a narrow channel running through a swamp. An erstwhile Portuguese colony. Diu is connected to the mainland by a narrow channel on the north with no commercial explertation or environmental degradation, it offers pristine golden beaches, palmgroves and monuments of yester years. Nagoa, Ghoghla, Jallandhar, Gomatimata and Chakratirth beaches are favourites with travelmasti enthusiasts. Living with and near the nature is what makes Diu special.

For wanderers/explorers the battlement of Div Fort, St Paul's and St Thomas churches, temples of Dwarka, Somnath, Palitana and Sansan Gir Sanctuary are perfect spots. Just an hour's flight from Mumbai, the tranquility and pleasant year round climate of Diu is a tremendous travelmasti!

Access

Railways

Veraval, some 80 km from the downtown, is the nearest railhead. Veraval is connected Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Rajkot. Girnar Express and Somnath Mail are the two important trains.

Airways

A daily flight from Mumbai is there. It is just at an hour's distance.
