Climate

The presence of mountains, becomes the major decisive factor for the Garhwal weather. The maximum temperature goes up to 30ºC and minimum to 3ºC in summers. Summers are equally pleasant in Garhwal and though Garhwal can be visited anytime but the best time to visit is between April to September.

Tehri Garhwal

It is a quaint but beautiful little hill station in Uttarakhand. The forests of Tehri Garhwal are full of medicinal herbs. Other places to visit in Tehri are Kempty Falls, Devprayag, Nagtibba & Khatling Glacier. For those interested in visiting temples and shrines, but of course this place will not disappoint as there are ancient and holy temples like Surkanda Devi, Buda Kedar Temple, Sem-Mukhem temple and Chandrabadani temple studded in the glory of Tehri Garhwal.

Devprayag

Lying at the confluence of rivers Bhagirathi & Alaknanda, Devprayag is the starting point of the holy river Ganga. A holy city in the state of Uttaranchal, Devprayag is an important pilgrimage for Hindus. One of the most stunning sight of Devprayag is the great temple of Raghunathji, which is claimed to have been erected some ten thousand years ago. Located upon a terrace in the upper part of the town, Raghunathji is built of massive uncemented stones. Other places of interest in Devprayag are Baital Kund, Brahm Kund, Surya Kund and Vasisht Kund; the Indradyumna Tirth, Pushyamal Tirth, Varah Tirth, Pushpavatika, Baitalshila and Varahishila. A bath at Baithalshila is claimed to cure leprosy. There are also the holy shrines of Bhairava, Bhushandi, Durga and Vishveshvara and a temple dedicated to Bharata.

Dhanaulti

Set amidst thick forests of oak, deodar, pine and rhododendron, Dhanualti is a perfect destination to retreat from the busy hectic life. Favored by the weather and the picturesque surroundings, Dhanaulti is a dreamy mountain retreat, where one can get close to nature and a place to sit, relax and talk your heart out. Dhanaulti is also the starting point of many treks, that take up to Surkanda Devi, Chandrabadni and Kunjapuri, the sacred three of the holy Devi Darshan triangle. There are other exciting treks via Dhanaulti that lead to Kempty Falls, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri glaciers. Tourists can trek upto the nearby villages of Kandikhal, Jamnikhal and Nekhari en route and spend the night at a simple guesthouse.
