Arunachal
Pradesh stretches from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan tri-junction
on the west to Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Myanmar (Burma) tri-junction
on the east and as such entry to all places of Arunachal Pradesh is
from the state Assam. Important Railway stations for entry to Arunachal
Pradesh are Rangapara, Lakhimpur North, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Naharkatia
all in Assam. The nearest airport are Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat and
Dibrugarh, all in Assam.

Formalities
For
Indian (Domestic) Tourists:
They
are required to obtain inner line permit from any of the following:

For
Foreign Tourists
- Foreign
Tourists intending to visit Arunachal Pradesh must obtain from the
Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi.
- They
are required to obtain Protected Area Permit (PAP) from the following
authorities:
- Home
Commissioner, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar.
- All
FRROs at Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta, (Foreign regional Registration
Officer)
- Chief
Immigration Officer, Madras.
- All
Indian Missions Abroad
- Application
for PAP to Commissioner Home, AP may be obtained by enclosing the
copy of the clearance from Home Ministry which should reach Commissioner
Home, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar, one month ahead.
- Passport
and Visa number, Validity, Nationality, purpose of visit, period
intended to remain in Arunachal Pradesh have to be quoted in the
application form for PAP along with 2 (two) no's of passport size
photograph.
- Minimum
of four and maximum of fourteen tourists can visit at a time.
- After
clearing the above formalities, the tour operators from outside
Arunachal Pradesh must come through local tour operators.
- Tourists
visiting Arunachal Pradesh on their own arrangement will have to
pay US $50 by head. In case all arrangements like food, lodging,
transportation, etc. have to be borne by the Government, they will
be required to pay 150 US $ per day, per head.
Cuisine
and Food
Indian
food i.e. North East, East and South, both vegetarian and north-vegetarian,
are available all the time at circuit houses, inspection bungalows,
guest houses and hotels. Chinese food and local food can be made available
on demand. Apong (local drinks made from rice or millet) may also
be made available on demand in advance.
Accommodation
At Itanagar
comparatively well furnished accommodation with modern amenities is
available at hotel Donyl Polo Ashok, Hotel Arun Subansiri and Hotel
Bomdila. In tourist lodges, Circuit houses and guest houses basic
amenities like clean toilets, writing table and hot water are available.

at Naharlagun and Pasighat.
