This
trek takes you along the west bank of the Ganges river through
luxuriant forests running down to the waters edge. Overnight camps
are by and large set up on the many pristine silver sand beaches
dotting the route.
Arrive
Snow Leopard Mountain camp
Early
morning transfer to the New Delhi Railway Station to board the
Shatabdi Express for a four hours train journey to Haridwar. Met
upon arrival at the Haridwar Railway Station and transfer to Snow
Leopard Mountain Camp. Lunch. Afternoon a warm up trek for two
hours in the Garhwal Himalayan foothills. Dinner around a campfire.
Overnight in safari tents.
On the river
An
exciting day on the river through some of the best rapids on the
Ganga river into Rishikesh. Lunch and a short tour of Rishikesh.
Drive back to Mountain camp for final trek preparation. Evening
at leisure. Overnight in tents.
Drive
to starting point of the trek
After
breakfast drive for half an hour to the starting point of the
trek. Cross the river on a suspension bridge and trek approximately
6 kilometers. Afternoon steep uphill trek for an hour and a half
to a typical Garhwali village nestled in the Himalayas. Return
to camp. Overnight in dome tents.
Trek
to Byasghat
Trek
along the ancient Hindu pilgrims trail for 18 scenic kilometers
to Byasghat, a famous fishing spot at the confluence of the Ganga
with a small stream. Camp on a beach near the river. Overnight
in tents.
Trek
to Devprayag
Trek
to Devprayag, a beautiful 16 km level walk along the river through
villages that seem to belong to an era gone by. Pass old temples,
ashrams and two famous Hindu shrines visited by pilgrims for centuries
enroute to Badrinath and Kedarnath. Overnight in Devprayag guest
house.
Return to Delhi
Early
morning sight seeing of Devprayag. After breakfast drive back
to Delhi arriving in the evening.
