The Hidden Forest is conveniently located at a distance of only two kilometers from the main Gangtok town centre. It is situated at an altitude of 4500 feet above mean sea level. The retreat is an extension of the flower nursery which specialises in Tissue Culture, breeding Orchids, lilies, Azaleas for over two decades.
The entire Retreat is connected with stone paved pathways which lead up and down the hill into the dense forest and orchid nursery. Rooms & Suits
The Hidden Forest Retreat have 8 spacious double bedrooms and a well stocked library. All rooms are with wooden floors and the walls are done up with locally available flat stone work. Each bedroom has a modern attached bathroom, running hot and cold water. From the sit out verandah you can enjoy an unobstructed panoramic view of surrounding rolling hills, terraced fields, wildlife, Rumtek Monastery, Rani Khola (river) and major view of Gangtok town while you wine and dine in quiet splendour.
Meals are served in an attractive cozy Dining Hall and is totally family run. There are no fixed meal. The Hidden Forest Retreat serve food in consultation with the guest and take care of dietary restrictions, if any. The Hidden Forest Retreat have there own kitchen garden and milch cows and so you can rest assured of healthy organically grown vegetables and milk in your diet. In the evening the hotel even provide "Chaang", local prepared alcoholic beverage made from millet.
These two exquisite stupas are located near the Deorati Bazzar. The first was build by Trulshi Rinpoche, head of Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism, in 1945, to commemorate the victory of good over evil. more
