Organic Farm
Across the river from the Rose Garden is a piece of land that is being developed into an Organic Farm. The Farm not only showcases best practices in traditional Thai agriculture but also allows visitors a glimpse and immerses them into Thai farming the way it used to be.
The Organic Farm is ideal for school groups and corporate events that want to add something different and meaningful to their programmes.
Activities include “pick and eat” experiences:
Restaurants
It comes from director Arrut Navaraj’s passion for food. Country-style cuisine means never compromising the food for the sake of convenience, he says.
“I’m quite a foodie and, beyond making sure the food tastes good, we try and do things the traditional way, the way it used to be. For example, we make our coconut milk, most houses in the villages still do that. The coconut milk in the ice cream is made the traditional way. We take the trouble to do that. Most houses grow their fruits and vegetables in their back garden. Most go to riverside markets to buy their groceries.”
Khun Arrut says the menu aims to be true to traditional styles of presentation - such as spicy shrimp paste dip with mackerel - and dishes are cooked with fresh ingredients picked from the gardens. By developing cottage industries around the property, the Rose Garden enjoys a plentiful supply of fresh herbs and coconut milk. It is planning its own Organic Farm across the river to ensure a steady supply of its own vegetables and spices for its restaurants.
The Rose Garden tries not to over-sweeten its food and provides appropriate levels of bitterness and/or spice for different palates, unlike in other more Westernised-style Thai restaurants where such flavours may be dulled down.
At the Rose Garden, guests are not short of dining options from Inn Chan to the atmospheric open-air Pae Suan Sampran offering country-style river cuisine.
