Close to the west banks of River Hooghly is located the township of Shobha Bazaar. The region is about 6 kms from the city center which is taken to be Chandni Chowk. Kolkata metro, the city's prime subway runs through the region. Jatindra Mohan Avenue that runs parallel to the subway links the township with the southern most parts of the city. The avenue and the metro connects Shoba Bazar with Bag Bazar in the north and Machu Bazar in the south.
