The word Jakhu is derived from Yakhsa which has mythological importance. The view of sunrise and sunset is downright breathtaking. The legend associated with the origin of temple is about the well known fight of Rama and Ravana. To save the life of Lakshman, the brother of Lord Rama, a precious herb was required which was found in Himalayan range only. Hanuman couldn't find the particular herb and took the entire hill which was later known as Jakhoo.
