The Shalimar Spice Garden Thekkady is located at a height of 800 meters at the edge of the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Walk across a wooden suspension bridge into 5 acres of cool, landscaped gardens, containing palm and mango groves, nutmeg and cardamom trees, a swimming pool, Ayurvedic centre. The Shalimar Spice Garden Thekkady has 15 cottages and rooms hidden in the woods. Each is built in Malayalam style, with wooden beams and wide verandas, and simply decorated in clean white lines which wouldn't look out of place in a Western interiors magazine.
“Falling Leaves” restaurant is laid out with traditional Kerala wooden furniture dating back to mid 20th century and the décor imparts a homely air to the place. The staff is always at hand to tickle your taste buds.
