About 34 kms from Kollam lies a pilgrimage town Ochira also known as the Dakshina Kashi of the South. One of the most unique feature of this town is its Orchira Temple as this temple is dedicated to the universal consciousness or the Parabrahmam so there is no proper organization, deity or an idol for the devotees to worship. This temple holds the rich old tradition and culture and the offerings are done in the form of bulls.

One of the major attraction of Ochira is the annual festival of the Orchira temple called Ochira Kali which is usually held around the month of June. In this festival men perform the ancient choreographed mock battle. The ideal time to visit this pilgrimage town is from March to October.
