Mahalaxmi Temple is dedicated to Goddess Mahalaxmi, the spouse of Lord Mahavishnu. It was erected in the year of 1785 and situated in the close proximity to Bhulabhai desai Road near worli. There are many irenic images of Goddess Mahalakshmi, Mahakali and Mahasaraswathi which receives flowers, incense sticks, sacred food(Parsad) and prayers of devotees. The image of Mahalakshmi represents the immense power of woman to destroy the evil elements from the world. The prosperity and affluence reside in the fist of whom- the Goddess Laxmi is the main cynosure of the temple. The small but attention grabbing stalls selling flower garlands and pious paraphernalia form an important part of the vivacious atmosphere of the temple. Many people visit here in the festival of Navarathri as the celebrations which take place on a large scale in the temple can be enjoyed. The pilgrims are seen bowing in the front of the idols in obeisance. Due to the huge horde of pilgrims, one needs to stand in long queues to bid sacred stuff like coconuts, flowers and sweets.
