Lothal, an archaeological site discovered in 1954 is located in the western Indian state of Gujarat, about 85 km southwest of Ahmedabad. It was an important port on the Indian subcontinent during the Harappan era. Lothal also represents the Harappan culture as it contains the remains of Harappan civilization from 2440 to 1600 b.c.
Lothal was one of the most prominent city of the ancient Indus valley civilization, so it too had excellent architecture and town planning. The major attractions of Lothal are the vast ruins of the ancient city. Winters is the best time to visit this city.
