Former capital of the Kachhwaha rulers of the old state of Dhundhar for seven centuries. A very few of the structures survive now. The city of Amer is a home to the widely popular fort of Amer which came into existence due to Raja Man Singh, Mirza Raja Jai Singh and Sawai Jai Singh. The fortress took approximately two centuries to get completed. The clear reflection of both Hindu and Mughal architecture can be seen in the fort of Amer. Many visitors opt for an elephant ride to reach the stout fort of Amer. Inside the fortress; there are many temples and frescoes to captivate the travelers.
