The town of Gadchiroli is the administrative headquarters of the district with the same name. Gadchiroli district was carved out on the 26th of August 1982 by the division of erstwhile Chandrapur district & is the most backward district in the state of Maharashtra.
Situated in the southeastern corner of Maharashtra, Gadchiroli is bounded by Chandrapur District to the west, Gondia Gondia to the north, Chhatisgarh state to the east, and Andra Pradesh state to the south and southwest.
