The Rs 15,000-crore
Dankuni Township project in Hooghly district,
is to come up on 5,010 acres, 25 km from Kolkota.
The proiect being developed by DLF comprises of
4846 acres of which 4069 acres is township area
and 777 acres is earmarked as industrial area.
The project area covers 20 villages – 5 full and
15 part, spread across four police stations, namely
Dankuni, Chanditala, Singur and Serampore. Once
the on-going work on the second Vivekananda Setu
(across the Hooghly River) and the Belghoria Expressway
is completed Dum Dum airport will be 20-25 minutes
from Dankuni
To overcome pollution problems in township, which
is coming up in an industrial area, a buffer zone
between the township and the existing industrial
belt has been mooted. A green belt would also
be built around the township. Major Industries
like "Mother Diary","Coca Cola" and many others
are already established in the area.
