BIJNAUR, a town and district of India lies the Bareilly division of northern India state of Uttar Pradesh. The town is about 7 m. from the left bank of the Ganges. Bijnor is the western most district distt. of U.P. The district of Bijnor has an area of 1791 sq. kms. The topography of district of Bijnor is plain, but the northern part of it rises towards the Himalayas, the greatest elevation being 1342 ft. above the sea-level. The Koh and Ramganga are the principal rivers that flow through the district, and the Ganges forms its western boundary. A line of the Oudh & Rohilkhand railway from Moradabad to Saharanpur runs through the district. Najibabad, Kiratpur are some of the important towns of the district of Bijnor.
As per the 2001 census Bijnor had a population of 79,368. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Bijnor has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 66% and female literacy of 59%. 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
